Description

A Landé-Edwards Membrane Oxygenator. On the side where the label is, there is an inlet for "Blood In" and an outlet for "Blood Out". Stamped on the front of the white portion in orange letters is "ANIMAL UNIT". The top label says that the maximum inlet pressure is 250 mm of mercury and that the minimum outlet pressure if 50 mm of mercury (70 cm of water). It also says not to apply suction to outlet and that the tube size is 3/8" I.D. On the back of the oxygenator, there is an inlet for "Gas In" and an outlet for "Gas Out". There is also a label which gives information on flow rate as well as restrictions. Attached to the oxygenator is a "CAUTION" tag with instructions. According to the exhibit card, this Landé-Edwards Membrane Oxygenator is circa 1960. It was used to oxygenate blood during open-heart surgery. Dimensions are: 4.25" H x 7.5" W x 8.25" L; weight: 5 lbs., 7.1 oz.
