dc.description.abstract9.05 Intellectual Property Policy: All faculty, staff, and students at Georgia Health Sciences University should follow this policy whenever an individual has created new intellectual property (for example, an invention or new copyrightable material). This policy provides mechanisms to review and evaluate new inventions and intellectual property (including trademarks and copyrights) that are the property of Georgia Health Sciences University. The policy helps Georgia Health Sciences University decide "When and how to secure protection and lays the foundation for marketing and licensing, with the ultimate generation of royalty income. The policy involves only new discoveries that are made by faculty, staff, or students performing one's assigned tasks or working within one's area of expertise. Intellectual property outside the scope of one's duties at Georgia Health Sciences University remains the property of the inventor.
